SEEN

Five years ago, I asked a question:

What does it mean to feel seen?

Since then, more than 250 people have shared their stories through SEEN, an ongoing portrait and storytelling project exploring visibility, belonging, identity, and connection.

Each year, fifty participants answer that question in their own words. Their stories are collected alongside original portraits in a growing archive of books, exhibitions, and community.

You can find Create! Magazine's feature of the project including an exclusive interview with The Tracy Piper here.

Every purchase helps keep SEEN free to participate in and free to experience.

“For the first time in 27 years, I think I’ve started to understand that safety of being SEEN. When I see that painting of my eye, my first thought is: ‘That’s where my soul is seen, and that’s safe.’”

One Question, Hundreds of Answers

Five years ago, I asked a question: What does it mean to feel seen?

I had no idea how many people were carrying that question with them.

Since then, more than 250 people have shared their stories through SEEN. Some spoke about belonging. Others about identity, grief, joy, courage, love, or learning to take up space. Together, their portraits and words have become a growing archive of what it means to be human. SEEN is my attempt to create a place where people can be witnessed exactly as they are... and to remind us that every person has a story worth seeing.
