Bio
THE TRACY PIPER (b. Oakland, CA, 1987) is a contemporary artist whose multidisciplinary practice spans painting, murals, sculpture, installation, publishing, and participatory experiences. Centered on themes of visibility, belonging, and our shared humanity, her work invites viewers to slow down, reflect, and reconnect—with themselves and with one another.
Working across galleries, public spaces, and immersive environments, Piper creates experiences where art becomes a catalyst for conversation rather than simply something to observe. Whether through monumental murals, community-driven portrait projects, or large-scale installations, her practice is rooted in the belief that creativity has the power to transform not only spaces, but the people who move through them.
She is the creator of SEEN, an ongoing portrait project exploring the question, What does it mean to feel seen? Now in its fifth year, the project has grown to include 250 original portraits and five published volumes. Piper’s work has been exhibited internationally and continues to build bridges between contemporary art, public engagement, and cultural storytelling.
Gallery
Portland has always been a city for the self-made, the unconventional, and the people willing to build something from nothing. Located at the iconic Art Tower, 1516 SW Alder Street, Retail 2, Portland, Oregon, The Tracy Piper Gallery exists in that spirit—a space dedicated to bold creativity, meaningful connection, and work that refuses to shrink itself to fit the room.
Part gallery, part studio, part community gathering place, the space showcases contemporary artwork exploring visibility, identity, mental health, resilience, and belonging. Through paintings, books, installations, and immersive experiences, visitors are invited into an evolving body of work centered on one simple question: What does it mean to feel seen?
The gallery welcomes collectors, creatives, dreamers, and anyone curious enough to walk through the door.
