I had a little contest on Facebook to see who really really wanted a portrait. Turns out the first winner was all around awesome web teacher and fellow artist Chris Koehler.
Conceptually what I wanted to do was place Chris kind of his element. So I went shooting in the Mission District looking for the right feel. As I started to shoot I was thinking about my relationship to Chris as a teacher/mentor and how he seems to be always busy and yet always has time for my (or any one else’s questions). Kind of like a hub of information comes out of this guy. Hence the wires of the telephone. Lastly, I didn’t want to over think it too much so I let my gut kind of guide me.
